Who is Trinity?

Trinity is a diverse community in the heart of Germantown.  We gather each Sunday to sing, pray, delight in Scripture, teach our children, allow our children to teach us, and have one heck of a coffee hour following service. Our worship is spirited and joyous with room for both quiet and laughter. We always welcome newcomers into this community, believing that you are a gift from God to us. Whoever you are–you are welcome here!

Following the Joyful Way of Christ

We believe that discipleship invites us into al life of joy. Joy is not synonymous with happiness, nor does it preclude suffering. Rather, joy is a fullness of life in Christ that holds us through thick and thin. As we follow the way of Christ, we grow in the wisdom, compassion, and hope of God. In some places, a dis-spirited person can be diagnosed by asking “where in your life did you stop singing, telling stories, serving, or listening to silence?” Methodists have long asked a related question: “how is it with your soul?” Discipleship invites us to deepen our souls through these four practices:

Song – In lifting our hearts before God in worship, and receiving the sacraments of communion and baptism, we always have something to sing about.

Story – We are the stories we tell. Through scripture study and Life Groups we learn that God’s story intersects with our story in ways that lend purpose and meaning.

Silence – In a world that won’t stop talking, practices of prayer and Sabbath help us to slow down and rest in God’s loving delight.

Service – Our faith inspires us to serve with compassion, bless the poor, and resist evil and oppression our world.

Our Mission and Beliefs

The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

We hold to the historic Christian faith as found in the Bible and passed down by the Church. We worship One God in Three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that God lovingly created the world and re-creates it by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. By grace, we are forgiven of sin and baptized into the new life Christ offers—a life of love, justice, and mercy. As United Methodists, we emphasize the marvelous grace of God, the pursuit of holy living, and the joy of the Christian life. To learn more about the history, doctrine and belief of the United Methodist Church, please explore our statements of faith.
